Exhibits: Planned, Designed, Developed, and Installed

What is important to me?

Exhibits are the parts of museums that visitors have the most opportunity to interact and engage with. I am passionate about innovative exhibits that draw visitors in and encourage them to learn something new about the topic displayed, other people, and themselves. I am particularly interested in exhibit development that takes into consideration the many ways of learning and seeks out new ways to incorporate interactivity and group learning while also utilizing collections and stories to their fullest potentials.

Practical Applications and Experiences

Residential to Presidential: 150 Years with the Harrisons

I served as project manager for this exhibit during my role as the New Century Curatorial Intern at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. I was responsible for research, label writing, artifact selection, layout planning (for the room and display cases), and collaborating and coordinating with other staff members for the marketing and production of materials. I assisted in the promotion of the exhibit to the public and I also assisted with the installation of the exhibit. I attended the opening event to greet and interact with visitors and answer their questions.

Emporia’s Black Educator: Working for Education Equality

This virtual exhibit was developed for Emporia State University’s Black History Month in 2021. I worked as part of a team of three student employees to plan and develop this exhibit from concept to installation. My tasks included research, content writing, photo selection, and auditory transcriptions.

Arab Indianapolis

As part of a team in my “Exhibit Planning and Development” course at IUPUI, I planned and developed an exhibit to be installed at the Indianapolis Public Library - Central Library Branch exploring the long and rich history of the Arab and Arab American cultural presence and influence in Indianapolis. The project consisted of researching content and planning an exhibition (including floor plan, walkthrough, color scheme, and interactives) to propose to a client seeking to create this exhibit based on his own interest and expertise in the topic.
